Vera Mae Freeman

Vera Mae Freeman, 78, of Vivian, LA passed away August 28, 2013 in Vivian, LA. Funeral services will be held 10 am Friday, August 30, 2013 at St. Clements Catholic Church in Vivian, LA officiated by Father James McLelland. Burial will follow at Vivian Cemetery.

Vera was born August 1, 1935 in Vivian. She was affiliated with St. Clements Catholic Church. Vera worked for the Houston Independent School District for 21 years and for Vivian Police Department for 12 years as a police officer and dispatcher. Ms. Freeman was a member of numerous organizations over the years that include: Tabeel Temple #88/Daughters of the Nile in Houston, TX, Houston Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Bowen-Holland Unit #141/American Legion Auxiliary in Vivian, LA, V.F.W. Auxiliary of Queen City, TX, Epsilon Sigma Alpha International Sorority, Municipal Police Officers Association of Louisiana, Retired and Disabled Police of America, Texas Retired Teachers Association, Historical Society of North Caddo, AARP, and the Daughters of the American Revolution- Frances Rebecca Harrison Chapter.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Vera Bentley.

Pallbearers will be officers of Vivian Police Department.
